Govardhan Puja 2022: Govardhan Puja 2022 Will Not Be Celebrated After Diwali, Know Why?

Govardhan Puja is celebrated every year on the Pratipada Tithi in the month of Kartik’s Shukla Paksha, i.e., the morning after Diwali, every year. It is also known as “Annakut.” The devotees worship Gau Dhan (cows) on this day. Cows are said to be Goddess Lakshmi’s form. The way Goddess Lakshmi spreads happiness and wealth to all her devotees, cows provide us with wealth in the form of a healthy life with their milk. Govardhan Puja is celebrated mainly to show respect and faith towards cows.

Govardhan Puja is related to Lord Krishna. It was initiated after the incarnation of Lord Krishna in the Dwapar Yug. On the other hand, Bhai Dooj is the festival of a brother and sister’s bond, which is celebrated a day after Govardhan Puja. On the day of Bhai Dooj, sisters put tilak on their brother’s foreheads and they both promise each other to always take care of each other in every situation. Bhai Dooj is also known as Yam Dwitiya.

However, this year, the festival of Govardhan Puja 2022 and Bhai Dooj will fall on the same day. Without waiting any further, let us read the date, significance, Puja Vidhi, and much more about Govardhan Puja 2022 and Bhai Dooj.
