Anang Trayodashi Mythological Story

According to mythological stories, there was a demon by the name of Tarkasura, who created terror among people and all the deities were upset because of this. He was blessed that he would die and get salvation only from the hands of Lord Shiva. When Lord Shiva was meditating, he was spreading his terror. Kamadeva then distracted the attention of Lord Shiva and in anger Lord Shiva burnt Kamadeva to ashes.

To bring back Kamadev to life, Rati started worshiping Lord Shiva and prayed to give him life, to this Kamadeva was given a boon to be born as the son of Lord Krishna in Dwapar Yuga and said Kamadeva would remain Anang. When the incident took place, it was Trayodashi tithi and Lord Shiva also said whoever worships you and Kamadev on the day of Anang Trayodashi, their love relationship will become strong and since then the ritual to observe a fast on this day has begun.
