Method Of Establishing A Shivling At Home

• Take a Shivling available in your house made of stone, crystal, mercury, clay, or any other metal, and place it on a plate. Sit in front of and offer it water three times while chanting the mantra- ॐ नम: शिवाय”/ oṃ nama: śivāya”
  
•  Sprinkle water around you for purification.
  
• Make sure you meditate on Mahadev while chanting the Mantra ॐ नम: शिवाय” / oṃ nama: śivāya”. Offer Bel leaves on Shivling and chant the Mantra. Anoint Lord Shiva first with water, followed by cow milk, curd, sugar, ghee, and honey, etc.
  
• Bathe Lord Shiva first with Panchamrit, then with normal pure water, followed by water mixed with sandalwood. Thereafter, offer clothes to God. You can also offer a Mauli thread if you want to.
  
• Offer flowers on the Shivling while chanting the Mantra ॐ नम: शिवाय” / oṃ nama: śivāya” and then, Janeu, Nivedya made of sweets, etc. Complete the Puja with the Mantra- 

“ॐ तत् पुरुषाय विदमहे महादेवाय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्र प्रचोदयात्।

“oṃ tat puruṣāya vidamahe mahādevāya dhīmahi tanno rudra pracodayāt।
