The fast can be started on any Thursday. The following rituals can be followed. 

• Wake up early in the morning on a Thursday and meditate during a bath and wear clean clothes.
• Cleanse the idol of Sai Baba with Panchamrit.
• Now worship Sai Baba and vow to observe the fast.
• During the Puja, lay a blank yellow cloth on Baba’s seat.
• Now install the idol of Sai on his seat.
• Light a lamp of ghee and light incense sticks in front of the statue.
• Apply Sandalwood or Kumkum/vermilion Tilak to Sai Baba.
• After that, offer yellow flowers to Sai Baba.
• Read out the Sai Vrat Katha.
• Read the Sai Chalisa.

• Offer fragrance, flowers, incense, Naivedya, fruits, flowers, etc. to Sai Baba.
