Married women wish for the long life of their husbands on the day of Rohini Vrat. It is believed that the fast of Maa Rohini removes poverty from the households and blesses the family with peace, prosperity and tranquility. One who observes this fast has to observe it consecutively for 3, 5, or 7 years. However, those who are unable to observe it consecutively, are advised to observe the same for at least 5 months. The fast is considered to be fruitful if observed for the period of 5 months or 5 years.
