Maa Kalratri is a destroyer of ‘Kaal’ and for this very reason, she is known as Kalratri. In addition to this, it is also said that Maa Durga incarnated herself as Kalratri with her Tej to kill a demon named Raktabeej. The Tej of Maa Durga was so high that this incarnation of Maa Durga turned black.
