The legend goes that in the Pradosh Kaal on the Margashirsha Purnima, Lord Dattatreya descended in a different form on the earth. Since that day, Margashirsha Purnima is celebrated as his birth anniversary.

On the day of Margashirsha Purnima, devotees wake up early and devour in the ceremonious bath. People add Tulsi leaves in the water with which they take bath. They organize Satyanarayan Puja and worship Lord Vishnu to remove hindrance from their life and seek his blessings for a successful future.
