Story Behind Mangala Gauri Vrat 

According to old scriptures, once there was this businessman called Seth  Dharampal. He never faced a shortage of money in his entire life. He was completely blessed with all the virtues and was a devotee of Lord Shiva. Later, Seth Dharampal married a virtuous girl, but till a long time after their marriage, they never got the happiness of a child in their life. This disheartened and worried Seth Dharampal. He started wondering if they would never be able to bear any child, then who would be the heir of his business. So, one day, his wife suggested that they should contact a Pandit to get the blessings to have a child. 

Agreeing to the advice of his wife, Seth Dharampal went to meet the most popular Pandit in the town. At that time, Pandit told them to worship Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. After this, Seth Dharampal and his wife worshiped the couple ritually, and witnessing the intense devotion of Seth Dharampal’s wife, Maa Parvati was pleased and said – O lady! I am very happy to see your devotion that you want to ask for a boon! Ask for whatever you want! All your wishes will be fulfilled. Seth Dharampal’s wife wished to have a child immediately.
