  • The fast begins on Ashtami and is completed with the breaking of the fast on Navami. Observers should have a light and sattvic meal on the day before, which is the Saptami tithi.

  • Next, hold water, fruits, and flowers in your hands and make a vow. At midday, place black sesame seeds into water to create a representation of the delivery room alongside Goddess Devaki.
