Before the fast of Ekadashi, one should remember Lord Vishnu after having food and on the next day on Ekadashi, after the completion of the morning routine, they should take the resolution of fasting at the worship place of their home and offer prayer to Gods. On this day, we should offer flowers, fruits, milk, Panchamrit, sesame seeds and more to Lord Vishnu. After worshiping the Lord, you should chant the name of God throughout the day and keep vigil at night as well. This fast is broken on the next day of Ekadashi.

When keeping the fast of Kamada Ekadashi, only one meal should be eaten which is incorporated with food made by milk, fruit, vegetables, and dry fruits. On this day, one should only eat Sattvik and vegetarian food. Also, rice, mung beans (moong dal), wheat and barley should be avoided. Food should be taken before the Sunset but grains should only be eaten after giving Dakshina and food to the Brahmin on the next day of Ekadashi.

Ekadashi fast is broken only after sunrise on the next day of Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to break the fast within the Dwadasha Tithi. Parana should not be performed during Hari Vasar. If Hari Vasar is continued on the Dwadasha Tithi. Then, wait for it to end and break the fast only after that. Hari Vasar is the first quarter of the Dwadasha Tithi.
