Phalguna Purnima Vrat 2022: Significance, Muhurat, and Rituals

According to the Hindu calendar, Phalguna Purnima is observed in the Phalguna month during the Shukla Paksha. This is the last Purnima, and the festival of colours, Holi, is also celebrated on this day. In various regions, devotees also celebrate this day as Lakshmi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and abundance. The devotees who observe a fast or a Vrat on the day of Phalguna Purnima and worship Lord Vishnu and the Moon are bestowed with the blessings of the lord. Rituals of Phalguna Purnima Pujan 2022

  • On the day of Phalguna Purnima, the devotees must wake up early and take a bath in the holy rivers as it is considered auspicious. If it is not possible to go to a holy river, then add a few drops of Ganga Jal in the water and take a bath at home.
  • After bathing, the devotees should perform the Vishnu Puja at home or temple.
  • The Vishnu Puja must be followed by the recital of Satyanarayan Katha. The devotees should then offer prayers to Lord Vishnu.
  • Another auspicious act on this day is to recite the “Gayatri Mantra” and “Om Namo Narayana” mantra 108 times in a row. 
  • On this day, people must donate food, clothes, and money to the needy and poor as per their capabilities.
