Ganesh Visarjan Significance
Ganesh Visarjan is performed on Anant Chaturdashi during Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month. It is believed that Bappa, who comes to our house to bestow his blessings upon us, returns to his home after Ganesh Visarjan. But here, the questions arise- what is the significance of Ganesh Visarjan, and why is Lord Ganesh immersed only in water?
Let’s find out the answers to these questions below.
Ganesh Visarjan Significance: In the Hindu scriptures, it is mentioned that the great Mahabharata was written by Lord Ganesh. It is said that Maharishi Ved Vyas narrated the legend of Mahabharata to Ganesh for ten consecutive days, and Lord Ganesh wrote this legend for ten days continuously. After ten days, when Ved Vyas touched Ganesh’s body, he realised that his body temperature increased. Vedvyas immediately took him to a nearby pool, where his increased body temperature started to come down due to the water. Since then, the tradition of Ganesh Visarjan started. It is believed that water immersion gives calmness to Lord Ganesh.
