Mythology Of Kalank Chaturthi

According to the mythology related to Kalank Chaturthi, it is said that once the Moon, seeing Lord Ganesha, made fun of his bloated stomach and Gajamukh form. Ganesh Ji got very angry about this and he cursed the moon. Lord Ganesha told the moon that you are so proud of your form, that’s why you will decay and no one will even see you and if anyone sees you despite this curse, then the curse will be on him.

As soon as the Lord gave this curse to the Moon, the size of the Moon gradually decreased. Moon got disturbed by this and started worshiping Shiva. Then Shiva advised Moon to worship Lord Ganesha only. In the end, Ganesh Ji told the moon that the effect of the curse that I have given to you will never end, but I can reduce its effectiveness.

By this, you will get reduced for 15 days but you will grow back and attain your full form. At the same time, it should also be kept in mind that whoever sees you on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will be defamed.

It is believed that due to the curse of Lord Ganesha, the moon starts decreasing for a period of 15 days and its size starts increasing for 15 days.
