To continue the 50-year-old “Muhurat trading” tradition, the stock exchanges (NSE and BSE) will be open for one hour on the festival of Diwali. To mark the beginning of the new Samvat 2079, Muhurat trading is practiced. This is when the traditional business community opens their books of accounts, according to the Hindu calendar. According to the official announcement acquired by livemint, settlement obligations will be imposed on all trades made at the Indian stock market during the Muhurat trading session of Diwali in 2022. Trading according to the Muhurat is believed to bring wealth and prosperity all year long.

• According to the notice posted on the BSE and NSE, trading in the stock, equity, and derivative segments will begin on Diwali, 24th October, 2022 at 6:15 in the evening and will end at 7:15. Pre-open session will start at 6:00 and end at 6:08 o’clock.
• The trading session for the commodity derivative section will also start at 6:15 and end at 7:15. However, according to livemint, trade modification will be accessible till 7:25 p.m.
• The currency derivative segment will have muhurat trading hours in 2022 from 6:15 to 7:15, while trade modifications in currency derivatives and IRD will be available till 7:25. Cross currency derivative trade modification will also be available till 7:25 p.m. Trade cancellation requests can be made up until 7:30 p.m.
