Know All About The Birth Of Lord Dattatreya 

According to the ancient scriptures, Anusuya deeply and reverently respected her husband, who was Maharishi Atri Muni, and that information traveled and became famous among all three worlds. Then Narad Muni talked about her divine devotion towards her husband to Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Parvati, and Goddess Saraswati. After listening to Narad Muni about Anusuya’s devotion, the three Goddesses made plans in order to test her. After listening to their wives, all  three gods, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva went to Prithvi Lok (Earth) to take the ultimate test of Anusuya’s regarding her endless devotion.

All three Gods, disguised as holy saints went into the hermitage of Maharishi Atri Muni. Maharishi was not present there, and the saints then expressed their desire to have food. After listening to them Devi Anusuya with love and devotion prepared their food and then offered them, but the saints told Anusuya that she should offer them their food without wearing any clothes. After listening to this Devi Anusuya went into doubt and became scared. To get out of this situation, Devi Anusuya with all her devotion, started meditating about her husband, Maharishi Atri Muni. After that, the three gods who were in disguise of saints revealed their divine power. 

After watching this, Maata Anusuya became mesmerized with happiness, and when Maata  Anusuya took water out from the Kamandal of Maharishi Atri Muni and sprinkled that on the saints, all the three gods turned into six months old infants. After that, Maata  Anusuya fed them according to what was promised earlier. On the other hand, the three wives started missing their husbands and became worried. Then Narad Muni told them what had happened on the Prithvi Lok (Earth). The three Goddesses then traveled to Earth and duly apologized to Maata Anusuya. The three Gods also admitted their mistakes and requested that they may take birth from the womb of Maata Anusuya. After this, the three lords, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva took birth from the womb of Maata Anusuya and came in the form of Lord Dattatreya. After obtaining all the three gods in the form of infant Lord Dattatreya, Mother Anusuya then took the water from the feets of her husband, Maharishi Atri Muni and sprinkled them on the three deities and after that, they took their original form.
