Nahay Khay Pujan Vidhi

The festival of Chhath is the epitome of purity, so it is believed that every work during this festival should begin with the pure Gangajal. This is the reason why many women who are fasting today go to take holy baths on the banks of the river Ganga on the first day of Chhath Puja. If this is not possible for some reason, then take a bath by mixing Gangajal in the bath water at home.

Later on, wash wheat and rice in pure water and dry it. This grain is used to make the offerings during Chhath Puja. While drying the grains, special care is taken to look into the fact that no bird takes a taste of it. Therefore, a member of the household monitors the grain until it dries completely.

On the day of Nahai Khay, devotees consume rice, gram dal, turmeric and pumpkin vegetable stew, where rock salt and radish is also added. Today, after the fast is broken, the rest of the household members also eat the same food.
