Chaitra Navami, also known as Ram Navami, is one of the most important festivals of Sanatan Dharma. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was born on the Shukla Paksha Navami of the Chaitra month in Ayodhya, as the son of King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya of the Raghu Kula.
The celebration of Rama Navami is done with devotion and joy, which includes fasting, singing of devotional songs, and offering sweets like Halwa-Puri, Kheer, and fruits to Lord Ram, along with nine young girls, who are the significator of Nav Durga, as we also worship Goddess Siddhidatri on this day.

- Wake up in the Brahma Muhurta and take a bath in the Ganga river. If not possible, you can pour some Ganga Jal in your bathing water.
- Worship Lord Ram and Goddess Durga, as Lord Ram also worshipped her for the victory on the battlefield.
- Offer food, fruits, and gifts to young girls on this day.
- Recite Ram Raksha Stotra, Ram mantra, and Balkand of Ramayan.

Ram Navami 2022: Religious Katha
According to the scriptures in Ramayana, during Treta Yuga, the King of Ayodhya, Dasaratha, lived with his three wives, Kaushalya, Kaikeyi, and Sumitra. During his reign, Ayodhya reached a period of great prosperity. However, Dasaratha faced a big problem–he had no children, and therefore, no successor to the throne in Raghu Kula.
Hence, he performed a Putra-Kameshti Yagya at the suggestion of Rishi Vashishta to get the desired child. A very holy saint, Rishi Rishyashring, performed the sacrificial offerings. As a consequence, Agni Dev appeared in front of Dashratha and provided him with a bowl of divine Kheer/Payasam. He requested Dasharatha to divide the Kheer between his wives.
Dashratrtha followed the order and gave half of the kheer to his elder wife Kaushyala and another half to his younger wife Kaitkeyi. Both queens further gave one-half of their portions to Sumitra. On the ninth day (Navami) in the month of Chaitra of the Hindu calendar, Kaushalya gave birth to Rama, Kaikeyi to Bharata, and Sumitra to Lakshmana and Shatrughan.
Since then, this day is celebrated as Rama Navami, with great joy throughout the world.

Ram Navami 2022: Dos And Don’ts
- One must wake up before sunrise and take a bath in the Ganga river. If that is not possible, you can pour some Ganga Jal in your bathing water. This will wash off all your past life sins.
- Perform the birth ceremony of Lord Ram.
- Offer food, fruits, and gifts to young girls on this day.
- Offering items like Red Chunni or clothes, fruits, Singar Samagri (makeup items), and Halwa-Puri to Mata Rani will bring good luck.
- Place a mango leaf on the main door of your house.
- It is advised to stay away from anger and brutality on this day.
- Don’t consume alcohol or any Tamasic food (non-veg food).
- Maintain a peaceful atmosphere at home.
- Maintaining celibacy is advisable during this period.

So, the Parana timing will be on 11th April 2022, after 6:00 am.
