Legends of Basant Panchami 

Legend has it that Devi Rati and Lord Kamdev are considered to be worshiped in 16 ways on this day and it is said to be highly auspicious. If this worship of Lord Kamdev is carried on for 16 consecutive days, then the life of married couples gets filled with happiness and their relationship becomes strong. This festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated on the Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha during the month of Magha.

As per  the Hindu panchang , Brahma Ji, the creator of the Universe, created Goddess Saraswati on this very day. There is a reference in Puranas that Brahma Ji created Goddess Saraswati. There is an indication in Puranas that Brahma Ji created human beings at the will of Lord Vishnu during the incidence of this Universe because man was silent in the beginning stage.
