Kartik Amavasya (October 21, 2025, Tuesday): Among all the new moon days of the year, Kartik Amavasya holds the greatest significance because it coincides with Diwali, the grandest Hindu festival. On this day, performing Shraddha rituals, offering donations, and engaging in charitable acts are considered extremely auspicious and rewarding. In the Shanti Parva of the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna himself explained the importance of Kartik Amavasya, saying, “This is my favorite day, and by worshiping me on this day, all planetary doshas of a person will be removed.”

Govardhan Puja (October 22, 2025, Wednesday): The day after Diwali, that is, on the Pratipada tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month, Govardhan Puja is celebrated.
