Goddess Skandmata has four arms and is holding Skanda in her lap with her upper right arm. In both of her lower arms she is holding lotus flowers, and the upper arm of the left side is in Varada Mudra. It is also believed that by worshiping Goddess Skandmata, the worship of Skanda Kumar (child form) get’s completed as well. Goddess Skandamata: Worship Methods
- On this day, get up early in the morning and after completing your morning routine, wear clean clothes and make a vow to observe the fast.
- Then purify the whole house with holy Ganga water or cow urine.
- Then on the place of worship put a four-legged small stool (Chaukee) and then install a statue or picture of Goddess Skandmata on it.
- After that, take water in a copper, silver, or earthen vessel and put some coins in it.
- Offer Goddess Skandmata her favorite foods, fruits, flowers etc. Goddess Skandmata’s beloved color is white so the devotee must make sure that during the worship they offer the Goddess Kheer made of milk and offer her bananas. Besides this, one should also wear white-colored or yellow-colored clothes during the worship.
- After that, in the end recite Durga Saptashati.
Mantra Of Goddess Skandamata
‘yā devī sarvabhūteṣu mā~ skaṃdamātā rūpeṇa saṃsthitā।
namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo nama:।।
siṃhāsanagatā nityaṃ padmāśritakaradvayā।
śubhadāstu sadā devī skandamātā yaśasvinī।।’
The devotee attains happiness and peace in their life when they recite the Mantra of Skandmata during the worship. However, one must keep in mind that the recitation of the Mantra should be clear and precise.
Goddess Skandamata: The Ancient Lore
According to the ancient story, a demon named Tarakasur did ultimate penance and Yagya/Havan in order to impress Lord Brahma. After getting impressed with Tarakasur’s dedication, Lord Brahma appeared before him and told him to ask him for a boon. A boon of immortality was asked by Tarakasur from Lord Brahma. After hearing this Lord Brahma told Tarakasur that whoever has taken birth shall die one day. After this, Tarakasur asked Lord Brahma for a boon which stated that he shall be killed by Lord Shiva’s son, as Tarakasur thought that Lord Shiva will never get married.
In such a situation, there is no hope of Lord Shiva having a son and with this boon he shall remain immortal. Lord Brahma then granted him his boon and after having that Tarakasur started tormenting people. After getting distressed from the demon, people went to Lord Shiva and prayed for their salvation. Then Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati and then their son Lord Kartikeya was born. After growing up Kartikeya killed the demon, Tarakasur. So, being the mother of Lord Skanda i.e Lord Kartikeya, she is called Skandmata.

Navratri 5th Day; Zodiac Based Remedies
Aries:
Natives of Aries should take 36 cloves and 6 pieces of Camphor on the fifth day of Navratri. Then they should mix turmeric and rice in it and then offer it to Goddess Skandmata. Before offering natives must recite this Mantra: ‘oṃ skandamātrai nama:’
Taurus:
The natives of Taurus should mix pomegranate in cloves and Camphor and then offer this to Goddess Skandmata. By doing this, the happiness of children is also attained. Before offering, read the Mantra of Paanch Maala Baadha Nivaaran on the material (Puja Samagri).
Gemini:
Naives of the zodiac sign of Gemini, should add flowers of Amaltas in clove and Camphor and then offer it to the Goddess Skandmata. If Amaltas flowers aren’t available then yellow-colored flowers can be offered as well. By doing so your business will also flourish.
Cancer:
