Jaya Ekadashi Vrat is observed every year in the Magha month of Shukla Paksha. It will be observed this year on Saturday, February 12, 2022. There is a Hindu custom folk who believes that following these traditions and rituals in their entirety, including all ceremonies and Vedic customs, will result in divine benefits from Lord Vishnu. In addition, Mata Lakshmi’s blessings will be upon us. As a result, not only this person is set free from all forms of pain.
In Sanatan Dharma, Jaya Ekadashi is a very important day. ‘Jaya Ekadashi’ is the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in Magha month. In a year, there are approximately 24 to 26 Ekadashi, each with its own unique significance, including Jaya Ekadashi. This Ekadashi is extremely virtuous; by fasting on this day, one is liberated from inferior forms such as ghosts, phantoms, and vampires. On the day of Jaya Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu is worshipped. In some Hindu sects in South India, particularly in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Jaya Ekadashi is also known as ‘Bhoomi Ekadashi’ and ‘Bheeshma Ekadashi.’

Jaya Ekadashi Katha
The story was told to Yudhishtra by Shri Krishna. The legend goes as-
Nandan Van was hosting a celebration. This feast was attended by all of the gods, perfect saints, and divine men. Gandharva was singing and the Gandharva females were dancing at the moment. Malyavan, a Gandharva, and Pushpavati, a Gandharva girl, were dancing at the conference. During that time, Gandharvas were singing songs and Gandharva girls were dancing. Amongst these, there was a man named Malyawan who used to sing very beautifully apart from being handsome. On the other hand, there was a girl named Pushyawati amongst the Gandharva girls. After seeing each other, both lost their rhythm, which angered Lord Indra, who cursed them that they will be deprived of heaven and live a scorching life in hell.
Indra was furious by Pushpavati and Malyavans immoral behaviour and cursed them both, saying they would be deprived of heaven and forced to live on Earth. “May you both be relegated to the status of vampire yoni in the afterlife.” Both became vampires as a result of the curse, and both took up residence under a tree on the Himalayan peak. In the vampire yoni, they had to go through a lot of hardships. They were both terribly sorrowful on the Ekadashi of Magh Shukla Paksha once, but that day they were only on fruits. Both of them were terribly cold throughout the night, so they sat up all night together. Both of them died from freezing, and due to Jaya Ekadashi’s unintended fasting, both of them were set free from the vampire yoni. Malyavan and Pushpavati have now become even more lovely than they were before, and they have been granted a place in paradise.
Devraj was astounded when he saw both and inquired as to how he was able to liberate himself from the vampire yoni. This is the consequence of Lord Vishnu’s Jaya Ekadashi, according to Malyavan. The consequence of this Ekadashi liberates us from the vampire yoni. Indra was overjoyed and remarked that because you are a Jagdishwar devotee, you will be honoured by me from now on, and you should live blissfully in heaven.
When Shri Krishna heard the tale, he said that on the day of Jaya Ekadashi, Jagapati Jagdishwar Lord Vishnu is the only one we should worship. On the tenth day, devout devotees who are fasting on this Ekadashi should eat one meal. Make sure you’re eating a sattvic diet. Make a vow to worship Shri Vishnu on Ekadashi by meditating on him and then worshipping him with incense, lamp, sandalwood, fruits, sesame seeds, and Panchamrit.
According to Hindu mythology, on the day of Jaya Ekadashi, one should keep hostility out of one’s heart and worship Lord Vishnu with all one’s heart and soul. At no moment should the emotions of hatred, dishonesty, or lust be brought to mind. It would also be useful to recite the Narayan Stotra and the Vishnu Sahasranama during this time. Mata Lakshmi and Shri Hari Vishnu’s blessings will rain down on those who keep this fast in its entirety.
