In ancient times, there was a Saint King named Mahidhavaj. He had a younger brother, whose name was Varajdhavaj and he used to hold grudges for the king. One day, Varajdhavaj killed the king and took his corpse to the jungle and buried him under a Pipal tree. Due to the sudden death, the spirit of the king started living on the Pipal Tree and that spirit used to haunt the passerby. People used to be scared of him. One day, a sage was passing through that way when he saw a spirit on the tree. He asked the spirit why he was here? After that the sage brought the spirit down with his powers and ordered him for Parlok Vida. To provide relief to the spirit, sage observed Ekadashi fast. After the ending of fast on the 12th day, he offered all his virtue to the spirit. Due to the influence of the fast, the king got rid of the ghostly form and went to paradise.
