According to the legend, once upon a time there lived a wise Brahmin named Dharmaketu in a kingdom. He had two wives, one named Sushila and the other wife named Chanchala. His first wife Sushila was a religious woman but Chanchala had no interest in religion and religious activities. Sushila used to fast often due to which she became very weak whereas Chanchala was in good health.
After some time, Sushila’s daughter and Chanchala’s son were born. Chanchala told Sushila that you used to observe so many fasts and yet God gave you a daughter. Look at me, I did not do anything yet I got a son. Sushila felt deeply hurt after hearing these words from Chanchala.
