Hariyali Amavasya Folklore

According to mythology, there was once a great monarch. He was accompanied by his son and a daughter in law. One day, the daughter-in-law secretly ate the sweet and blamed the rat. As a result, the rat became enraged and decided to bring the real thief before the king as quickly as possible. One day, some guests arrived at the king’s house. All of the guests slept in the king’s room. The mouse, enraged, grabbed the queen’s saree and stored it in that room. When the guest’s eyes opened in the morning, he was surprised to see the queen’s clothes. When the king learned of this, he expelled his daughter-in-law from the palace.

As soon as she left the palace, the queen began worshiping, lighting lamps and working on growing sorghum every evening. The queen used to distribute jaggery bags as Prasad to the people. The king was walking down the same road one day when he noticed the lamp. After returning to the palace, the king sent the soldiers to the forest, instructing them to come and find what miraculous thing was there. The soldiers went under the Peepal tree in the jungle. There they noticed lamps talking with one another. Everyone was sharing their own story. Then everyone questioned the lamp with a silent lamp, “Why are you quiet? Tell us your story.” The lamp, while relating its narrative, mentioned that it was the queen’s lamp. He went on to say that because the rat stole the queen’s sweets, he kept the queen’s saree in the guest room, and the innocent queen was cast out of the palace, where she is now enduring the effects of a sin she did not do. As soon as the soldiers heard this, they informed the king the whole story. After that, the king realized his mistake and called the queen back to the palace, where she joyfully began life with her family.
