- Taking a bath at dawn bears special significance. There is a belief that one gets rid of diseases and sins after bathing.
- Devotees in Tamil Nadu use Iruku leaves for this holy bath and offer water to Lord Sun from a pot after bathing.
- Recite different names of Lord Sun 12 times to get more benefits.
- Light the lamp/Diya filled with ghee and worship Lord Sun by offering red flowers and lightning incense sticks.
