Paush Purnima Vrat Katha

Dhaneshwar, a Brahmin, and his wife, Roopvati, lived in the city of Kataka. Riches, wealth, and luxuries were bestowed upon the couple, but they lacked a child. A Yogi came to town one day and requested Daan/Dakshina from every home, but he opted not to seek assistance from Dhaneshwar. Dhaneshwar questioned why the Yogi avoided him after observing him for a few days. As a result, Dhaneshwar appealed to the Yogi to respond to his question. The Yogi reassured Dhaneshwar by declaring that he does not accept alms from childless people. Dhaneshwar sought the Yogi’s blessings after learning the reason and wondered what he might do to have a kid. Dhaneshwar was then asked to pray to Goddess Chandi by the Yogi.

Shri Krishna Ji began to explain that Dhaneshwar had become a son as a result of the consequence of fasting for thirty-two full moons. This is my word, and there is no doubt about it. Women who follow this fast do not face the pain of widowhood after birth, and they remain lucky forever. This fast is given to sons and grandchildren, and it grants all of their wishes. By the grace of Lord Shiva, all of the wishes are fulfilled after thirty-two full moons of fasting.
