Navratri Navami Puja Muhurat

The Puja Muhurat for Navami Tithi in Shukla Paksha during Ashwin month commences from October 24, Saturday at 07:02 AM and will last till October 25, Sunday upto 07:44 AM. In such a situation, Maa Siddhidatri will be venerated on Sunday morning.

Significance Of Navratri Parana On This Day

The meaning of Parana in real sense is the end of Sharad Navratri that lasts for nine days. The Parana of Sharad Navratri is performed on Dashami Tithi in Ashwin Shukla Paksha.

However, there are two types of beliefs in the scriptures pertaining to the Muhurat of Parana. Some people believe that the ninth day is the end of this festival and others celebrate the same on the tenth day of Navratri. Those who end fast on Dashami, observe fast till Navami. As per scriptures, if Navami Tithi falls twice, then in that pretext, the fast is observed on the very first day and Parana is performed on the subsequent day. Navami is the last day of Navratri Puja and therefore, the ritual of Kanya Pujan is carried out after performing the Shodashopachara Puja of Maa Durga.

Mythological Importance of Navratri Parana

As per Hindu beliefs and mythology, when the demon named Mahishasura created ruckus in all the three worlds, the deities got sick and tired of him and approached Maa Durga. Maa Durga fought with Mahishasura to get all the deities and three worlds free from him. The fierce fight lasted for nine days and finally, she killed the demon.

In this pretext, this auspicious festival of Navratri and the ninth day of this festival is considered to be the symbol of power, strength, knowledge and victory of Maa Durga over Mahishasura. Therefore, Navratri Parana is considered to be auspicious for a new venture.

It is believed that those who observe fast with due rituals and perform Parana on Dashami Tithi, get riddance from all sorrows and inauspiciousness by the blessings of Maa Durga. Also, one is blessed with peace and prosperity if worship is performed sincerely and wholeheartedly.

Why Has The Goddess Been Named as Maa Siddhidatri?

The ninth day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Maa Siddhidatri. As per mythological beliefs, Lord Shiva attained several Shiddhis by the grace of Maa Siddhidatri. Owing to this grace, half of Lord Shiva’s body turned into the form of a female deity, and hence, he was named as Ardhanarishwar. As per Markendey Puran, there are mainly eight types of Siddhis – Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakyamya, Inshitva, and Vashitva. It is believed that one who worships Maa Siddhidatri sincerely is blessed with these Siddhis. Siddhidatri is a combination of two words i.e. Siddhi and Datri. Siddhi means spiritual power (Adhyatmik Shakti) and Datri means giver of Siddhis. She eliminates negativity and darkness in devotees and inculcates knowledge in them. Therefore, she is named as Maa Siddhidatri.
