Navpatrika Puja Method
Following are the methods of worshiping Navpatrika:
First, tie all nine leaves together for worship and then dip them in a sacred river to purify them.
You should take a dip in the holy river while holding these leaves. If taking a river bath is not possible, you can carry out the practice at home.
Following that, many holy waters are used to purify the nine leaves. The process is as follows: first, use Ganga water, then rainwater, followed by water from the Saraswati River. Next, use ocean water, then pond water with lotus, and finally, waterfall water.
After taking a bath, women wear a white saree with a red border. In a similar way the Navapatrika is also donned in such a saree and adorned with a garland of flowers. It is believed that the Navapatrika should be dressed like a Bengali bride.
After the grand bath, Prana Pratishtha is done. Once the worship area has been purified the goddess Durga statue is installed and decorated with vibrant flowers and lights.
Shodashopachara Puja is performed following the Prana Pratishtha. Goddess Durga is worshipped using sixteen different items during this ritual.
