Things to Keep in Mind for Mahananda Navami

• Get up in Brahma Muhurat and clean the whole house thoroughly. Then, fill the garbage left in the house in the soup and throw it out. It is believed that doing so leads to the immersion of Alakshmi.
• Wake up in the Brahma Muhurat and take a bath in the Ganga river. If that is not possible, you can pour some Ganga Jal in your bathing water.
• Then onwards, install the idol of Goddess Lakshmi on a post and offer her Akshat, flowers, incense and bhog etc.

According to mythology, a moneylender’s daughter lived in a city. She was very religious in nature. She used to worship the Peepal tree every day. Mother Lakshmi resided in that Peepal tree, the moneylender’s daughter made friends with Mother Lakshmi. One day Mata Lakshmi took the moneylender’s daughter to her house and gave her a lot of respect. She fed her a lot and later sent her off with a gift. After this, Mata Lakshmi said to the moneylender’s daughter,  “When are you calling me to your house?”. On this the moneylender’s daughter started thinking about their poor condition. 

However, the moneylender’s daughter invited Maa Lakshmi to come to her house. After reaching home, the moneylender’s daughter told the whole thing to her father. The moneylender also got worried after listening to the daughter. At the same time, an eagle went to the moneylender’s house and dropped a diamond necklace. Selling this necklace, the moneylender’s daughter set up a gold post for Goddess Lakshmi and bought a Dushala. When Mata Lakshmi came to the house of the moneylender’s daughter with Shri Ganesha, she offered a lot of service to Mahalakshmi and Lord Ganesha. Mata Lakshmi and Ganesh Ji were pleased with the service of the moneylender’s daughter and blessed her.

• One must wake up before sunrise and take a bath in the Ganga river. If that is not possible, you can pour some Ganga Jal in your bathing water, this will wash off all your past life sins.
