On this day, after waking up early and taking a bath, clean the house, temple and puja place. Take a clean stool and spread a yellow coloured cloth over it. Perform Jalabhishek of all the deities of the temple and install the idol or picture of Bal Gopal on the stool. Make Bal Gopal sit in a swing on this day. Make him swing and offer him laddoos and his favourite food items. Take care of Bal Gopal as your own child. On Krishna Janmashtami, there is a great significance of worshipping at night as Lord Krishna was born at this time. So, worship Lord Krishna at midnight.
