Gupt Navratri Katha
A mythological and authentic story related to Gupt Navratri is very famously recited. According to this legend, Sage Shringi was interacting with his devotees while listening to their sorrows and hardships. Suddenly a woman from the crowd came forward and told the Sage about her husband. She revealed that her husband is always surrounded by bad habits and that he is a meat-eater and a gambler, due to which she cannot perform the Puja properly. However she told him that she wants happiness and prosperity for her family by venerating Goddess Durga.

By hearing this, Sage Shringi became highly impressed by her devotion and told her the remedy. He said that although everyone is aware of Vasant and Shardiya Navratri, there are two more Navratris called ‘Gupt Navratri’. The manifested Navaratris celebrate the nine incarnations of the Goddess, but during the Gupt Navratri, Ten Mahavidyas are worshiped. If any devotee worships Mother Durga during Gupt Navratri, then the Goddess blesses him/her with immense success.
Sage Shringi also said that if someone who is greedy, meat-eater or non-worshiper venerates the Goddess during Gupt Navratri, he/she attains happiness in his/her life. But keep in mind not to publicize your acts in this duration. Listening to his advice, the woman became happy and carried out the Gupt Navratri rituals accordingly.
