How was the Kund Formed?

It is said that Radha made Krishna take a Snan in several holy rivers to wash out all the sins after he had killed a giant demon. Then, Krishna placed his foot strongly at the place where he was standing. With this, all the rivers which Radha mentioned, appeared and a Kund was formed over there.

Lord Krishna took a bath in this very Kund. This Kund is also known as Shyam Kund. But Radha got furious with this divine power of Krishna. After this, she made a pit with the help of her bangle (Kangan), friends and Gopis and filled the same with water of Mansi Ganga.

With this, a huge lake was formed near Govardhan which is also known by the name of Radha Kund or Kangan Kund. The day Radha Ji created this Kund was the day of Ahoi Ashtami. In this pretext, a boon is given that any husband who takes a dip with his wife on this very day, must be blessed with a child.
