Kartik Purnima Vrat Vidhi

  • According to the mythological scriptures, bathing in any pilgrimage site, any holy river, lake, ghat, etc. on this day is said to be extremely auspicious. However, if you cannot bathe at these places on this day, then take a bath by adding a little Gangajal in the bathing water itself.
  • On this day, in the morning, take the resolution and worship Lord Moon by following all the rites and rituals. While worshiping the Moon, do chant this special mantra. “ॐ सों सोमाय नम: – ॐ श्रां श्रीं श्रौं सः चन्द्रमसे नम: / oṃ soṃ somāya nama: – oṃ śrāṃ śrīṃ śrauṃ saḥ candramase nama:”
  • On this day, by offering raw milk, belpatra, honey, shami leaf, etc. on the Shivling, the grace of Lord Shiva remains forever on that person.
  • On the day of Kartik Purnima, offer clothes and Dakshina(donation) to the Brahmin, sisters and aunt.
  • After worshiping on this day, lamps must be lit in the house.
  • Also, one should donate as much as possible on this day. Special importance has been given to charity.
